This is about PE (physical education) in an elementary school setting that will discuss resources, ideas, what works and doesn't work. My goal is to do whatever it takes to make PE engaging for all students regardless of athletic abilities. Get those kids moving and having fun!

Molly and the Sugar Monster
Need some help with a fun way to teach kids about limiting sugar intake and nutrition? We found a site called Molly and the Sugar Monster which does an audio podcast on iTunes and on the web that helps make it cool not to want too much sugar. Kids respond well to it. We wrote to them and they sent us our very own podcast addressing our school by name. Check them out!

Pray For Our Community
Our community was just hit by the devastating tragedy related to Fort Hood yesterday. Please keep us in your prayers as we move forward and heal.

SOAR
The Student Online Achievement Resources website is a tool I learned about today that is open to military children, their parents, and classmates. The site gives helpful online resources for at-home learning activities. Parents can get info from sites such as the Department of Education and other educational resources while students and their classmates can get tutorial lessons on skills they may need to reinforce. Check it out!

Money For PE
You can never have enough money for your program and most of us have less money than ever before. We went from a budget of $250 per PE teacher down to $50. Next year we are expecting $0 unless it comes from grants, fundraising efforts, etc. We should share sites that can help with funding! Here is one I saw that updates quite frequently called Grant Wrangler. You should check it out from time to time. Another site you may want to consider is Flaghouse which is a PE equipment supplier that has great info on grants. Let's all try something this year and share our successes later!

Primary SPARKS Curriculum
We were finally able to purchase the SPARK curriculum to better serve our primary students during PE. There are only minor adjustments needed to fit the needs of Pre-K students. We really like this and would absolutely recommend you to check it out!

Here are some artists that our students enjoy playing games by. Lots of action music that sounds like music from some of their video games is what they really go for. Enjoy!

NFL Pass, Punt and Kick
Is your school participating this year? We had very few students who were interested or were already involved through other organizations. I think it is worthwhile to pursue though. Check it out here!

Twitterosis Had Me Hostage!

Howdy Y'all!
It's been about a year since I last posted. I've been a twitaholic for awhile, but now I seem to be recovering and things are starting to be a bit more manageable. I'm just excited about all the options we now have to collaborate with everybody! What do you think about social networking in general and are possibilities for the classroom viable?
